Donna’s Knee

Donna's Knee

Oil on Canvas, Not for Sale

ANATOMY: Patella, meniscus, AC ligament, cartilage on the heads of the femur, tibia, and fibula.

BEYOND: This piece is about healing; an active visual of the basic anatomy with life in it. The fluid is full in the meniscus, with plenty of spongey absorbtion. The cartilage is fresh and alive. I was asked to create this for someone who has lost most of her cartilage and ruptured her meniscus in both knees.

Such an interesting joint, held together by ligaments to support our entire frame requiring balance and support from the surrounding muscles. Capricorn is attributed to the knees, a sign known for its far reaching material goals.
