Mystery of Absorption

Mystery of Absorption

Oil on canvas, $1200, Collection of Dennis Klocek

ANATOMY: mesentery of the small intestines; small intestines

BEYOND: The blood supply to the small intestines acts as our nourishing by-ways and highways, allowing for the assimilation of all the nourishment we take into our body. Like the roots of plants our intestines have little “fingers” that reach out to grab those amazing atoms and molecules like nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon to make the proteins, vitamins and minerals we need for healthy living. Imagine what it is like to be a root of a plant, your body, and your soul, selecting what you need and discarding what is waste.
